Field Investigations in Nairobi City County and its Environs – Week 2

28th October:

NECC investigated environmental degradation at an abandoned excavated site in Garden Estate, Nairobi City County. The site has accumulated stormwater, presenting health risks and causing property damage to adjacent premises.

30th October:

The team conducted field investigations focused on the following concerns:

  1. The flow of effluent and stormwater into private property.
  2. The discharge of toxic smoke into the atmosphere.
  3. Disruption of natural stormwater flow resulting from excavation and soil dumping within the Kenya Pipeline reserve.
