National Tree Growing Campaign

The nationwide six-month daily tree growing campaign, spearheaded by Cabinet Secretaries and senior government officials, was inaugurated by His Excellency The President during the 2nd National Tree Growing Day last Friday and continued today.

Environment and Climate Change Principal Secretary Eng Festus K Ng’eno, along with Forestry PS Gitonga Mugambi, Ms. Mary Njogu, NECC Committee Secretary, and Mr. Rodney Omari, NECC Administrator, joined Cabinet Secretary Hon Soipan Tuya and Attorney General Justin Muturi for a tree planting event at Kona Baridi, Ngong Hills Forest, Kajiado County.

The Cabinet designated Ngong Hills Forest to the Office of The Attorney General and Department of Justice (State Law Office) for comprehensive restoration under the new landscapes and ecosystems restoration plan.

The Attorney General was accompanied by State Law Office staff, led by Solicitor General Hon Shadrack Mose, at the event, which was also attended by Kajiado Governor H.E. Joseph Ole Lenku.
