INAUGURATION CEREMONY AT PLATEAU MISSION HOSPITAL

Hon. Gladys Boss Shollei, the Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly and Uasin Gishu County Women Representative joined by Ms. Mary Njogu, Committee Secretary of the National Environmental Complaints Committee (NECC), in a tree planting initiative held during the inauguration ceremony for the newly renovated Children’s Ward at Plateau Mission Hospital. Lions Clubs International Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County, orchestrated the refurbishment of the ward.

During the event, NECC Secretary Mary Njogu called upon the public to rally behind the president’s ambitious goal of planting 15 billion trees by 2032, underscoring the crucial role of afforestation in mitigating the adverse impacts of climate change. Emphasizing individual responsibility, she stressed the necessity of maintaining a clean and healthy environment for the collective well-being of current and future generations.

In addition to promoting the tree planting initiative, Secretary Njogu announced the NECC’s commitment to close collaboration with the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Forestry, alongside other pertinent stakeholders. This collaboration aims to ensure the effective conservation of our precious natural resources and contribute to a sustainable and resilient future.
