The National Environmental Complaints Committee has commenced investigations into the pollution of rivers in the Nairobi metropolis. This came following the launch of a 90-day crack down on polluters of the environment. The Environment and forestry Cabinet Secretary Keriako Tobiko launched the event on 20th July 2020 at the Michuki Memorial Park. The NECC team today visited four slaughter houses in Ndonyo, Kiambu County to investigate how they manage their waste.The NECC Committee Secretary, Dr. John Chumo said the agency will not back pedal in its mission to safeguard Nairobi River. The Committee Secretary added that those discharging untreated water, toxic waste and industrial waste into the Nairobi River to be held responsible.
