Institutions that were create under the Environmental Management and Coordination Act (EMCA), have been challenged to professionally discharge their respective mandates. Speaking in her Maji house office when she received Board members of the National Environmental Complaints Committee, which is an EMCA institution, the Cabinet Secretary, Ministry of Environment, Water and Natural Resources, Prof. Judi Wakhungu noted that, issues of environmental conservation cut across all spheres of development and as servants of the people, we are expected to diligently deliver on our mandates.
The National Environmental Complaints Committee is mandated to promote compliance with environment laws by the public to reduce “public complaints” related to the environment. The team, which was led by the chair, Mr. Limo, was accompanied by the Ministry’s Director of Policy Formulation and Implementation, Mr. Paul Kere and the Director-General of NEMA, Prof. Geoffrey Wahungu.
